If forgiveness is the religious word for “letting go,” (Richard Rohr) how do I let go of grievous hurts?
Some hurts are easier to let go of:
an unkind word,
a forgotten special occasion,
a tidbit of gossip about you that reaches your ears,
these are easier to let go of.
But some hurts are so deep it feels like they can never be let go:
abuse,
betrayal,
assault,
abandonment.
How to I forgive these deep wounds? How do I let go of the anger, bitterness, sadness and pain that deep hurts produce?
My next few posts will offer some suggestions on how to forgive deep wounds.
