Ever wonder where God is?
From childhood we may have heard “God is in heaven.” When we asked where heaven is, we were told, “Up there, somewhere.” Heaven supposedly being “up” and hell being “down.” But up where is heaven? Beyond the sky? Beyond the Milky Way?
Maybe a better question to understand where God is might be this: “Where are we?”
What if “in him (God) we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28)? What if God is not somewhere up there or beyond us. What if we are IN God? What if everything we see, the world, the galaxy, the universe, is in God? What if we are in God like a fish is in water? Surrounded by God, breathing in God.
My teacher in the Center for Action and Contemplation’s Living School , Dr. James Finley, says “the whole universe flows from God, is sustained by God, and subsists in God (The Healing Path, p. 72)
